Do You Know You Can Get Five Additional Points?

In order to embrace the next age of economic prosperity in the innovative 21st Century, the Australian government launched the National Innovation and Science Agenda on 7th December 2015.

From 10th September 2016, if a student studied a Doctorate or research Master qualification in science, technology, engineering or mathematics (STEM), or specified information and communication technology (ICT) fields, and the course included at least two academic years of study at an Australian university, they can be awarded five additional points towards their point tests when they are applying for the General Skilled Migration visas, within the following visa categories:

  • Skilled Independent Visa- Subclass 189
  • Skilled Nominated Visa- Subclass 190
  • Skilled Regional (Provisional ) Visa- Subclass 489

The following fields will be accepted under the new policy.
